the wager for rain

Here’s an email I received, one that I’m savoring—still savoring:

Hi, and hope you’re having a great summer. We’re writing today with news –– your article has been awarded first place in the Sage Young Environmental Writers Contest.

Here’s a teaser:

For decades, Southwestern scientists have tried to engineer their way out of a chronic water shortage problem. Are their best solutions any less an act of prayer than a rain dance?  Megan Kimble takes us through America’s new wager for rain.

It’s here and it’s about rain and cloud seeding, drought and faith. For me, writing this piece, it was about learning how to tackle that which is unwieldy.
